In 1976, the late T. Albert Sands and Claudia Sands, founded Rock Sound Properties (1976) Limited (RSP), the parent company of the Sands Family holdings. RSP is owned entirely by Claudia, Thomas Chandra and Christel.

RSP is today one of the largest family owned Bahamian businesses on the island of Eleuthera. The interests of RSP include ownership of one of the largest retail centers and supermarkets on Eleuthera, real estate brokerage, general insurance brokerage and owners of Eleuthera Adventure Tours Ltd. (EAT).

EAT currently offers Princess Cruise Line passengers “A Taste of Eleuthera” through an interactive cultural and heritage tour, while disseminating this additional revenue into the community through its employees and a variety of vendor and sub contractual relationships.

In addition RSP, is a major investor and founding partner in the Cotton Bay Development, South Eleuthera. In fact T. Albert Sands was not only the founding President, but it is due to his unique business and personal relationship with Juan Trippe, the Aviator and Developer of the original Cotton Bay Club, that this development opportunity became available to create what has become the largest majority Bahamian owned development company in the Bahamas.

The Market Place which is the largest, most modern, shopping complex on the island of Eleuthera has been owned and managed by the Rock Sound Properties (1976) Limited Real Estate Division since 1976. Tenants of the complex include A.I.D. (Automotive Store), Sturrups ‘ Liquor Store, The Market(Supermarket) and Rock Sound Hardware.

RSP manages and operates The Market, Eleutheras ‘ modern, air-conditioned, 6,000 square feet supermarket. The store has fully stocked produce, grocery, deli-meat, dairy and drug store departments. The diversity of products sold at our store is similar to that which the customer would expect to be provided in a full service supermarket anywhere in the world.

Additionally for over thirty years, RSP has sold property, vehicle, marine and liability insurance coverage under the umbrella of T. Albert Sands Insurance Agency, representing Royal Star Assurance and Bahamas First General Insurance Company Limited. In April 2004, “Eleuthera Insurance Agents and Brokers Limited” (EIABL) was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of RSP to deal exclusively with the insurance division of the company.
